Jack Everly, conductor; George Takei, narrator; George Takei, Sulu on the original Star Trek series and major motion pictures, narrates an out-of-this-world musical extravaganza. Take a trip among the stars with the MSO Pops, as the orchestra performs the music from your favorite science fiction films and TV shows, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

This concert will feature a variety of composers whose music explores the limitless theme of love. The Love concert will showcase Grammy Award Winner, Michael Daugherty. Daugherty is one of the most frequently programmed American composers of this generation. His newest commission for Present Music will be a 20-minute piece for mixed ensemble and voice, titled Love Songs, and will draw from the writings of poets from the 13th Century to the present. Daugherty will be present at this concert event.
